Sodexho Healthcare has been awarded a five-year contract to provide the catering services for 38 Nuffield hospitals across the UK. The total estimated turnover over the five years will be around £50 million.
This is the largest contract, outside of PFI projects, that Sodexho Healthcare has been successful in securing. Prior to the signing of this contract the outsourcing rate in the private healthcare market ran at 8% of the total market. This contract win increases the outsourcing rate to 30% and moves Sodexho Healthcare to become the leading contractor in this market place.
Sodexho employs over 560 staff and provides the catering for the patients, staff and visitors. Early changes include a new patient menu offering a wide selection of tasty dishes developed by a dedicated team of chefs and Healthcare dieticians. Patients can choose meals from an extensive "a la carte" selection with all meals being freshly prepared on site.
Iain Anderson, managing director of Sodexho Healthcare, said: "I am delighted that we have been chosen by Nuffield Hospitals to provide all of its catering services. We share a commitment to quality and believe that it will be a genuine partnership which is set on delivering an excellent service."
David Mobbs, chief executive of Nuffield Hospitals, added: "Sodexho demonstrated strong experience in multi-site provision and is a good match in terms of service delivery and culture. We believe that Sodexho has the right expertise and experience to work closely with our own teams to deliver a high quality service for our patients, staff and visitors.
The catering services were previously provided by in-house teams.
