Drinking water must always be protected from mixing with non potable water, and, depending on the level of risk, fluids are divided into categories 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest protection category.
Fluids of category 5 represent a serious health hazard, and may contain pathogenic organisms, or radioactive or toxic substances; they must never come in contact with drinking water, even in the smallest quantities. BS EN 1717 sets the highest standards for safety equipment that can be used to separate these fluids from the drinking water system.
With its two pump sizes, the FK5 break tank station from Kemper UK & Ireland offers impressive performance values, with flow rates of up to 7 m3/hr, and maximum head up to 58 m. It has a host of technical features, including automatic flushing of the inlet supply pipe to avoid stagnation, a tank cleaning function for hygiene purposes, programmable operating times, control of external pumps, frost protection monitor, BMS fault signal, drain with overflow monitoring, and the optional utilisation of rainwater through a second inlet.
Operation and programming is via an intuitive user-friendly touchscreen, and all data – including consumption in litres, tank fill level in per cent, valve position, pump pressure etc. – can be logged within, and downloaded via a USB interface. The compact system can be supplied in both wall mount and free-standing versions.
