Fast decontamination from Bioquell

UK manufacturer Bioquell has launched the Bioquell Z, claimed to be a revolutionary new concept in room bio-decontamination. Designed for safe and effective pathogen kill, the Bioquell Z will quickly bio-decontaminate surfaces within hospital rooms with the minimum amount of effort, the manufacturer says.

The unit uses Bioquell’s hydrogen peroxide vapour (HPV) based Clarus technology, which, the company says, has been used to decontaminate more than 3,500 hospital rooms worldwide.

Typical applications include decontamination of an isolation ward following the discharge of an infected patient, overnight disinfection of an operating theatre, or dealing with a spillage in a level three containment area of a pathology lab.

The generator is designed for ease of use, allowing hospital staff to decontaminate rooms with the minimum amount of effort and training. Wheeled into a room, the control lectern is detached from the generator and sited outside for safe, parametric control. Once the room has been vacated and sealed, then the high velocity nozzles effectively distribute a hydrogen peroxide vapour evenly throughout the room.

When effective kill has been achieved the room is purged of vapour using the on-board catalyst. As hydrogen peroxide vapour decomposes to oxygen and water vapour the system is environmentally friendly and there are no harmful residues.
