A variety of Polyflor’s vinyl flooring products have been selected for installation at North Middlesex Hospital’s new £17.9 million maternity unit.
A selection of Polyflor safety, homogeneous, and SD floor coverings, including Forest fx, XL PU, Polysafe Standard, Polysafe Hydro Evolve, and Finesse SD, were installed by Leedsbased flooring contractor, Phoenix Flooring.
The modular building was completed offsite by Portakabin Group, with main contractor, Kier Construction, as part of a larger £80 m modernisation and expansion programme at the hospital. The new unit includes eight ‘home-from-birth’ rooms, an 18-cot neonatal unit with three ‘mother and baby’ rooms, and ‘extra capacity’. A labour ward includes a delivery suite and two obstetrics operating theatres.
Forest fx PUR sheet vinyl flooring in American Oak (pictured) has been extensively used throughout the wards, corridors, and reception areas. The Forest fx range is available in a ‘practical and resilient’ 2 mm gauge vinyl sheet format with a 0.7 mm wear layer, ‘making it ideal for high traffic, heavy commercial environments in the healthcare sector’. Polyflor added: “Its cross-linked and UVcured polyurethane reinforcement (PUR) offers a low-cost, polish-free maintenance regime for the flooring’s lifetime.”
Forest fx contains recycled material, and is ‘100% recyclable’ via the Recofloor scheme.
