Zip lends a hand for children’s hospice refurbishment

A ‘badly needed’ refurbishment of the communal area at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices’ Shooting Star House hospice in Hampton has seen Zip Water UK supply one of its Zip HydroTap Arcs to provide filtered boiling and chilled water instantly.

The drinking water systems manufacturer was asked to supply the Hydro Tap by design and fit-out specialist Area, which undertook the ‘refurb’ of the ‘tired and dated’ communal area.

Zip Water UK said: “With a two week ‘window’ to transform this important room, the brief was to create an inviting space where families could spend time together relaxing, eating, and socialising. Far more than just a new coat of paint and some pictures on the wall, the entire area was refurbished by volunteers, with new flooring, decorated walls and new furniture, stunning hot air balloons, and fluffy clouds suspended from the ceiling.”

One area was designated for guest and staff drink-making. Zip Water elaborated: “Area chose Zip after specifying HydroTaps for previous projects, and loved the functionality and choice of finishes. A Zip HydroTap Arc in bright chrome was selected.”

Justin Lewis, head of client support at Area, said: “We knew the space had to be visually exciting, with sensory elements for the children, but also practical and safe. We approached suppliers we knew would deliver what was needed. We regularly specify HydroTaps for commercial projects, and are familiar with the product range, so knew Zip would have the perfect solution for the drinks station. Families can make drinks instantly without waiting for a kettle to boil, and, thanks to safety features such as the boiling isolation mode and cool-touch tap, users can enjoy complete peace of mind.”
