Luminaire launched to meet LG7 standards

Aura Corporation has launched a new luminaire designed to meet the new LG7 standards.

The new Signature fitting uses the Actulite polarised daylight lighting system and multi-layer polarising panels, which in combination with 6500 K full spectrum fluorescent tubes and high frequency electronic control gear, produces a quality of light almost identical to natural daylight, Aura says.

The polarising panels increase visual perception or seeing power by 120% with glare-free light, such that a normal 500 lux requirement can be reduced down to 350 lux, resulting in a 30% reduction in luminaires and energy consumption in a lighting scheme.

The Signature luminaires are surface mounted at 95 mm deep and five models are available: triple tube 18 W and 36 W versions, twin tube 36 W and 58 W versions, and a compact twin 36 W PL lamp version. All models feature opal polycarbonate side panels to achieve illuminance across the ceiling as required by LG7. Powder coated white, the Signature luminaires have all-steel bodies, and are hand finished with welded smooth corners.

They feature aluminium framed Aura Mag diffuser panels which use super strong magnetism to hold the panels onto the fitting, allowing ‘no tools’ removal for replacing fluorescent tubes during routine maintenance.

The Actulite polarised daylight lighting system brings a number of other significant benefits, Aura claims: no harmful UV is transmitted, and the natural lighting leads to less eye strain which results in greater productivity and less absenteeism in the workforce. Also, as a daylight lighting system, it usefully combats the effects of SAD (seasonal affective disorder).
