Equipment supply and support for Leicestershire

Leicestershire-based Hill-Rom has agreed a contract with University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust to fully equip its hospitals with new AvantGuard hospital beds, specialist mattresses and furniture, over a phased five year period with a comprehensive contract for services over the next 15 years.

Glenfield, Leicester General and Leicester Royal Infirmary hospitals receive the first consignment of electric beds, mattresses and trolleys during May with other equipment such as cots, couches and chairs following over the next few months. Hill-Rom electric profiling beds and dynamic therapeutic mattresses are designed to improve comfort and provide pressure relief – reducing the risk of pressure ulcers – and can be easily operated by patients, thereby increasing their independence. The trolleys and electric beds will also improve manual handling for staff by making it easier for them to move patients thus improving the patient’s comfort. Kirsty Brunning, UHL bed and equipment project manager said: “This is excellent news for Leicester’s hospitals. The contract enables the Trust to provide equipment that will benefit both patients and staff in many ways. As well as equipment, Hill-Rom will also provide a full maintenance, repair and training service, with their staff working in partnership with the Trust.”
