Musgrove installs powerful cleaners

Musgrove Park Hospital Taunton, Somerset’s largest general hospital, has taken delivery of 45 Nilfisk HDS 2000 vacuum cleaners, each fitted with a triple HEPA filtration system to reduce dust dispersal and ensure a clean, healthy environment.

With a sound level of just 46 dB, Nilfisk says the commercial vacuum cleaner is also exceptionally quiet, meaning it can be used for daytime hospital cleaning without disturbing occupants.

Serving a 340,000-strong population, Musgrove Park Hospital has over 700 beds, 30 wards, 15 operating theatres and a diagnostic imaging department. Hotel services manager Wendy Sims said: “Nilfisk’s HDS 2000 is not just a vacuum cleaner; it is specially designed for hospital use to ensure cleaning is completed to the highest specification and with minimum noise levels. We’re using the new machines daily and achieving these results in all clinical areas.”

The HDS 2000 features two sound barriers – one in the main body and a second in the motor cassette. It has a rated power of 1,250 W and “highly efficient” suction power of up to 280 W at the nozzle at high speed. Weighing under 9 kg, it comes with a 1.9 m hose, while motor replacement is simply a matter of “clicking” out the old motor and “clicking” in a new one.
