PSCPs support skills certification scheme

A recent survey by ProCure21, the NHS and Department of Health’s construction partnering programme, revealed that all the programme’s Principal Supply Chain Partners (PSCPs) are actively supporting the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS).

CSCS was established to help the construction industry improve quality and reduce accidents. The survey showed that, on average, more than 80% of PSCP companies’ staff hold CSCS cards. The cards, of which over 1.1 m have now been issued, are awarded based on assessment of occupational competence and health and safety awareness, providing a primary route for people involved with all aspects of the construction process to prove their skills.

Ray Stephenson, ProCure21 programme manager, said: “The objective of ProCure21 is to achieve excellence in NHS construction. Confirming that all of the contractors leading the construction process are committed to appropriate training for their people is fundamental to our success.”

ProCure21 PSCPs are: Balfour Beatty, Costain, HBG, Integrated Health Projects, Interserve Health, Kier Health, Laing O’Rourke and Medicinq.
