Drax (UK) will show for the first time its Connect AMX1 alarm management system. A “powerful, bespoke approach to systems integration”, the AMX1 can integrate existing standalone third party systems, including fire detection, security, lighting and plant, into one “easily manageable, convenient and simply controlled system” without compromising individual system integrity.
Also being shown will be SiteWatch, a GSM-based system designed for simple, economical off-site monitoring 24-hours-a-day. SiteWatch comprises single or multiple remote transmitter units positioned adjacent to the equipment to be monitored, a central receiver unit, and a PC equipped with management software – typically located at the facilities manager’s office or service organisation. “Exceptionally easy to install”, the SiteWatch remote units (up to 255) are hard-wired to the monitored equipment’s outputs and read the signals generated, such as “on”, “off”, “fire”, “fault”, “open”, “closed” etc. SiteWatch encodes the signals and sends a customised data message via SMS to the SiteWatch Manager.
Activation of these inputs can be preprogrammed to send tailored messages, such as “immediate action”, “advise client”, “schedule for next maintenance visit”, allowing for the relevant response. While SiteWatch can be effectively used on a single site, Drax says it “comes into its own” when used across mutluiple sites or buildings.
The company will also launch its new FireAssessor software tool, which “should help organisations simplify the compulsory fire risk assessment process”. Via easy-to-follow instructions FireAssessor is designed to enable users to conduct a comprehensive risk assessment even if they have “only minimal background knowledge”.
