Training via ‘blended learning’

Eastwood Park, the privately-owned training centre for personnel in the healthcare engineering, estates and facilities management arena, offers a wide range of training courses – on subjects ranging from decontamination and infection control, use of medical gas equipment, fire safety and lift maintenance, to estates and facilities management.

Courses can be run at customers’ premises or at Eastwood Park itself at Falfield in Gloucestershire, where fully equipped training facilities are available, including several training labs, enabling delegates to work on equipment in a safe, controlled environment “that would be impossible” in an operational environment.

The variety of learning methods available include an increasing number of courses adopting a “blended learning approach” combining practical, hands-on training with online and distance learning options. An example is the new two-year, workbased Foundation Degree in Medical Technologies, covering areas including medical equipment, medical gas technology and medical device contamination.

John Thatcher, Eastwood Park’s ceo and director of training, says: “We fully appreciate the responsibilities of keeping up with the latest healthcare sector guidelines and the need to refresh existing approaches to training. We will have our new training calendar available on our stand, which includes an additional 35 new courses this year, while our consultants will be available to discuss visitors’ specific requirements.”
