Sustainable building centre nears completion

Health service specifiers will be among the first visitors when Wolseley’s new £3 m Sustainable Building Center (SBC), currently nearing completion by Warwick-based contractor Sol Construction at the company’s Leamington Spa headquarters, opens in June.

The company, which claims to distribute the UK’s widest construction product range, says the SBC will provide a “living, interactive showcase” of sustainable building products and construction methods from numerous suppliers.

Tim Pollard, Wolseley head of sustainability, added: “The SBC will showcase genuine sustainable products available now and orderable in commercial quantities. Many will be in their working environment, to provide visitors with hard data on the quantifiable benefits.”

Wolseley also now offers a Sustainable Product Guide, which explains the technologies behind the products listed, including those particularly relevant to new builds or refurbishment of hospitals and care homes.

Sean Collins, Wolseley’s health sector director, said: “Wolseley is committed to promoting sustainable approaches to construction, something evident by the investment in the SBC and the variety of products in the Sustainable Product Guide.
