Laundry system to receive NHS evaluation

The Otex laundry disinfection system is set to be evaluated by the NHS, as a result of the product being launched to a key meeting of NHS officials and nurses responsible for hospital cleanliness and infection control.

Otex, which uses ozone to kill bacteria, viruses and superbugs found on patients’ clothing, nurses’ uniforms, bed linen and mop heads, is widely in use in care homes throughout the UK and the Commission for Social Care Inspection has confirmed it complies with the National Minimum Care Standards. Independent scientific tests have proved that the system kills Clostridium difficile at low temperatures – whereas the NHS guideline that calls for infected or soiled laundry to be washed with programmes that achieve thermal disinfection does not. Otex also effectively destroys MRSA.
