MTX appointed to new £10 bn Offsite Construction Solutions framework

Modern Methods of Construction specialist, MTX, has been named as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s Offsite Construction Solutions Framework, which ‘broadens the pre-manufactured building solution provision currently available to public sector buyers through CCS agreements’.

Through the new framework, the Wilmslow-based company is eligible to supply buildings manufactured off site for both the healthcare and education sectors, ‘supporting public sector plans to innovate, drive efficiency, and continue to work towards Carbon Net Zero targets’.

The Offsite Construction Solutions agreement reflects Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) innovations, and continues to align with the policies outlined in The Construction Playbook on offsite construction adoption. It is designed to assist all public sector customers, with a specific focus on the health, housing, education, justice, and defence sectors.

The agreement replaces the CCS Modular Buildings Agreement, which closes on 1 April this year, and will run for four years, with the possibility of a three-year extension. CCS ‘supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services’. In 2021/22, CCS says it helped the public sector achieve commercial benefits equal to £2.8 bn.

John Welch, Deputy director – Construction, Crown Commercial Service, said: “This new framework will support the public sector in the design, delivery, and commissioning, of a whole range of offsite construction projects in the coming years – including social housing, new schools, and hospital extensions. These projects, and the many more which will come, have the potential to improve services and the lives of millions of people.”

MTX MD, David Hartley, added: “Offsite construction is a key element within the MMC processes that MTX has developed and refined through its delivery of an extensive range of public sector projects over many years. Qualifying as a supplier is an important milestone for us. We see the new agreement as a vital tool in promoting wider adoption of offsite manufacturing within the construction industry and public sector procurement.”
