In the course of its roof membrane
replacement, The James Pagett Hospital
in Great Yarmouth selected Crossgrip
safety matting to create the walkways.
The product, manufactured by Plastic Extruders and supplied by Arco was specifically chosen because it provides high slip-resistance in all weathers with the benefit that pedestrian weight is spread, thereby minimising damage to the new roof membrane. In addition, the standing height of 14 mm allows easy access over the ponding which can sometimes form on the roof.
Crossgrip slip-resistant matting, made with flexible 100% PVC, is widely used on flat roofs, gantries and high level walkways for maintenance access and to protect the roof covering. The deeply etched open grid surface is self-draining, resistant to UV and bacterial growth and maintenance free. Because of its flexible construction, it is easy to lay and contour and, as new wind tunnel tests prove, is permanently stable even in hurricane force winds. The matting is supplied in 10 m rolls and standard widths of 60 cm, 91 cm and 122 cm.
