Can you serve the Institute?

Recruitment and membership manager Chris Parker is keen to hear from registered Engineering Technician IHEEM members who would be keen to serve on the Institute’s Membership Committee.

Under the chairmanship of Nigel Keery, this committee, comprising representatives from the general membership, several of whom are also on Council, undertakes the important task of electing new members. Some existing members are registered engineers, while some are from the non-engineering membership.

In order that there is full representation, the Institute’s Standing Orders stipulate that there should be representation from each category of engineering registration, Chartered and Incorporated Engineers, and Engineering Technicians. Until recently, Phil Wade has carried out the role as representative of the Eng Tech membership, but he now serves IHEEM in a different capacity. There is therefore now a vacancy for an Eng Tech registered member to serve on this committee.

There are four meetings a year, usually held in London, with some additional work to be undertaken in the weeks preceding each meeting, generally dealt with by post and e-mail. This is an ideal opportunity for the selected individual to serve the Institute as well as to enhance their own personal and professional development.

Those interested should contact Chris Parker on 023 9282 3186 or e-mail him at: chris.parker@iheem.org.uk
