Eluned Morgan, the Minister for Health and Social Services in Wales, has officially opened the Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, part of Swansea Bay University Health Board.
The Minister was given a tour of the new surgical facility after unveiling a plaque to commemorate the opening, with both representatives of the Health Board and ModuleCo Healthcare (MCH), which provided the facility, in attendance. ModuleCo Healthcare (MCH) supplied the new unit as part of a long-term managed services agreement, which it says will be instrumental in helping the Health Board clear the backlog in orthopaedic surgery in the region. The Health Minister's visit was part of a broader effort to improve healthcare services across Wales, and she was particularly interested in seeing how the Centre of Excellence is addressing the backlog of patients currently waiting for treatment.
ModuleCo Healthcare MD, Alan Wilson, said: “I was thrilled to witness the successful handover of our modern surgical facility. During the project, we worked in close partnership with Swansea Bay University Health Board and its clinical teams, who have displayed exceptional commitment and determination to bring this scheme to fruition. The new facility will no doubt enhance patient care and service delivery for many years to come.”
