Sliding door originally developed for famous children’s hospital

Axis manufactures the Flo-Motion manual sliding door system, which was developed for the healthcare sector, and is included as a standard component within the ProCure 22/23 framework.

It first attended Healthcare Estates was in 2015, when it launched the Flo-Motion door, and it has been regular exhibitor ever since. Specifically designed with BDP for the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to provide ‘child- friendly’, full-width, glazed bedroom and ward doors, the multi award winning AXIS Flo-Motion manual sliding door employs a special low-resistance track system that can be operated with minimal effort using finger-tip control. Axis said: “The adaptability of Flo-Motion offers the designer several formats to suit varying needs. Useful tools such as clear opening calculators and BIM models assist with designing and specifying the right door for your project.”

Flo-Motion doors feature recirculating ball guides on a special low-resistance linear track with a damper mechanism. The doorsets are fabricated using extruded aluminium profiles, and include a ‘goalpost’ frame. During the design stage, significant consideration was given to the constructor, so that the installation process is simplified for all parties. The frame incorporating the transom support for the track system can be installed at the first-fix stage, allowing other trades to complete the walls and floors before the panels are fitted. Axis is independently owned, and has been working in the healthcare, education, government agency, and commercial sectors since 1987. Its product range includes:

  • Manual swing and sliding doors.
  • Automatic swing and sliding doors
  • Hermetic and fire-rated doors.
  • Steel doors.
  • Low-level glazed screens, curtain wall, and shopfront systems.
