Trial results to be shared

Silver antimicrobial product protection specialist BioCote will exhibit on stand M38 alongside partners Link Lockers, which provides personal storage; CFM, which produces Notile panels, “a hygienic alternative to standard tiling systems”; shelving and storage solutions manufacturer Link 51; and clinical waste sack holder supplier Environmental Hygiene Products.

As the list of BioCote-protected products grows, including a new antibacterial paint, estate managers can now create complete environments with protection against bacteria and mould. The products are currently being specified within the NHS suuply chain to complement cleaning practices and help meet Duty 4 of the Hygiene Code: “to provide and maintain a clean, appropriate environment”.

At 2.15p.m. on October 14 chairman of the Association of Silver Antimicrobial Solutions Matthew Harte will present on silver antimicrobial products’ benefits and how they can create hygienic, safe environments, sharing results from an environmental trial which demonstrated that such products harboured 95% less bacteria than standard products in a hospital environment.

BioCote silver ion technology reportedly reduces levels of bacteria on surfaces by up to 99.9% over a 24-hour period, with reduction of up to 80% within two hours.
