HFC event branded a success

The 2005 Annual Seminar of the Healthcare Facilities Consortium (HFC), held at Chester College at the start of September, has been reported by delegates as having been “one of the best yet”. The specialist three day FM information seminar attracted around 130 delegates in all.

Following a formal welcome and two sessions of user group meetings on the first day, the HFC AGM took place early on the morning of the second day, followed by a highly entertaining and motivational talk on handling and managing change by Bill Pirie, ex chief superintendent, Essex Police Force. Two sets of workshops, covering topics as diverse as “benchmarking” and “asbestos – surveys and records”, were followed by the closing session in comparisons between EFM within the UK and USA. Two plenary sessions back to back by Janice Miles, director of corporate affairs at the NHS Confederation, the owner of HFC, and Darryn Kerr, Department of Health – Estates and Facilities Directorate, looked into the future of the NHS from a policy perspective and considered life after NHS Estates. More workshop sessions and a close of the enlarged exhibition saw the final day out. Ideas have already been received for topics for the next event which will provisionally be on the 10 to 12 September 2006.
