Sanyo claims market first

Sanyo Airconditioners Europe (SAE) has launched a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air conditioning system said to be the market’s first to supply heating and cooling while cogenerating hot water and electricity.

Reportedly able to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 30%, the low carbon ECO G Power two-way air conditioning system is fitted with a permanent magnet, non-bearing type generator for increased efficiency, and can be connected up to 24 indoor units. Each unit has a 4.0 kW efficient generator providing enough power to run 40 indoor air conditioning units.

Depending on load the unit generates from 2 to 4 kW of electricity with a generation efficiency of over 40%. The system can provide both electricity and hot water in heating and cooling mode. An electricity output to a power inverter allows the power to be used either on site or returned to the grid. In addition, the unit has a capacity to generate 22 kW of hot water. The 20HP model provides 56 kW cooling or 63 kW heating.

The ECO G Power is part of the new improved Sanyo M series of gas-driven VRF systems offering increased efficiency and performance.

Improvements include increased part-load performance, reduced gas consumption, and reduced electrical consumption via the use of DC fan motors.

Said to be ideal for sites short of power, the GHP VRF can use either natural gas or LPG and only requires a single phase power supply.
