Topping-out for £23 m health centre in Chiswick

Over 30 people attended a recent topping-out to get a glimpse of the Chiswick Health Centre in London, which is currently under construction, at a recent topping-out ceremony.

A joint £23 million project between NHSPS and Hounslow Council, with major support coming from various stakeholders, the centre will be the base for Chiswick PCN and community staff delivering a range of primary care services to over 60,000 patients in the locality.

At the topping-out, main contractors, Willmott Dixon, hosted representatives from NHS Property Services, Hounslow Council, North West London Integrated Care Board, the local Primary Care Network, and the three GP practices who will be operating out of the facility once it opens, projected for early 2025. The event provided an important opportunity to highlight the centre’s various innovations, green spaces, sustainable building practices and materials, and the over 50 affordable housing units that will be available for NHS workers.

Once operational, the site will continue to host the three GP practices – West4GPs, Chiswick Family Practice, and Chiswick Health Practice and be the base for Chiswick PCN and community staff.

Chiswick Health Centre will also see carbon emissions reduced by 77%, and greater biodiversity, with landscaped courtyards, a fifth floor garden terrace, and a public community green space. Ultimately, once complete the health centre will align with commitments by Hounslow Council, the Mayor of London, and the NHS to use modern, low pollutant-emitting technologies and solutions.

Adrian Powell, director of Investment & Development Management at NHSPS, said: “Chiswick Health Centre is a major project that has brought together many stakeholders, and to be here today celebrating this milestone is a massive collaborative achievement. I am delighted we’re progressing well with the build, and I look forward to seeing the finished health centre welcome patients early next year.”

purpose.”

Richard Poulter, MD at Willmott Dixon Construction, said: “We’re delighted to be working in collaboration with NHSPS and Hounslow Council to deliver such an important project for the community, with a focus on sustainable solutions, improved health facilities, and housing for key workers in the area. This milestone is a fantastic opportunity to take the time to see the hard work and dedication of all stakeholders involved come to fruition”.

Mark Jarvis, assistant director, Primary Care, Integration & Delivery for Hounslow, added: “It’s wonderful to see the progress of this development and all the work that is going in to building this state-of-the art-health centre. This is a significant step forward in an ambitious project that will improve primary care services in Hounslow. This new facility will also provide a range of community services in the Chiswick area. This has been an exciting, collaborative project and the 50 new homes provided by Hounslow Council, primarily for our key workers, will make the impact on our local community even greater.”
