Quintain, the award-winning developer behind Wembley Park, has announced that a new GP ‘super surgery’ just opened at the heart of Wembley Park is largest NHS GP surgery in North West London, serving up to 25,000 patients – a capacity increase of over 30% on previous provision.
The new space, three times’ larger than the previous premises, is operated by Wembley Park Medical Centre, which is re-locating from Wembley Park Drive to Humphry Repton Lane close to Olympic Way and Boxpark Wembley, a 10-minute walk from the old premises. The build has created what Quintain dubs ‘state-of-the-art’ general practice medical spaces – including two clinical suites, 14 consult exam rooms, four treatment rooms, and an e-consult room. In addition, the surgery can now undertake minor surgery and respiratory testing – services not possible at the previous site. It has been designed with a double-height reception and waiting area into the ground floor of the Repton Gardens residential development at the heart of Wembley Park.
Dr Sachin P Patel, GP Partner at Wembley Park Medical Centre, said: “I have been a GP at the surgery for 11 years, and I’m thrilled about the opening of the new space, which now allows us to serve a larger proportion of the community. Our new premises will continue to have that familiar and family-like approach which it has had since the practice began in 1970.
“This new purpose-built facility is fit for modern care and treatment, with state-of-the-art primary care facilities and services, and an increase in staff. This will not only hugely benefit the local community, but also our staff, who have been working in cramped conditions for many years. I am grateful for Quintain and Brent Council’s time and investment into the improvement of our local services.”
The surgery has been delivered by Quintain as part of the Repton Gardens development, designed by architects, The Manser Practice, a team with award-winning healthcare sector experience. The surgery provides enough space for 14 GP staff – including doctors, clinical pharmacists, physician associates, and GP assistants.
