Busy schedule for Welsh branch

IHEEM’s Welsh branch and Welsh Health Estates have announced that the 2009 Welsh Health Estates conference and exhibition will be held at Cardiff’s Hilton Hotel from 22-23 April next year, and promise that a number of high profile speakers will share their views on the latest issues affecting the NHS in Wales and the healthcare estate in particular.

Guest speaker will be Professor Richard Dinsdale of the Sustainable Environment Research Centre, University of Glamorgan. Start time is 7.00 p.m. for 7.15 p.m.

A one-day CPD-accredited “Fire alarms in healthcare” seminar, at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, on 20 November, will see speakers including Robert Thilthorpe of the Fire Industry Association, Anthony Pitcher, senior fire safety advisor, Welsh Health Estates, Mike Fulton of Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust, and a CFOA representative from the Fire and Rescue Service, discuss topics including the latest fire alarm and fire prevention technology, fire legislation, and the frequency of “false alarms”. The branch will also be holding a oneday seminar on “energy for sustainable buildings” during January – details to follow, while its AGM will be held on 26 February, at Welsh Health Estates, Bevan House Cardiff, beginning at 5.15 pm, with a light buffet from 4.45 pm.
