HBG renames UK operations

One of the largest construction companies operating in the UK, HBG Construction, has been re-named BAM Construction, after its European parent company, Royal BAM Group.

It is at the early stages of construction for four significant healthcare projects under the Welsh Health Estates Framework. The hospitals are Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan in Ebbw Vale (reportedly the UK’s first publicly-funded 100% single-bed hospital), the Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, Caerphilly, and initial work for the Swansea Healthvision project at Morriston Hospital. Also under construction is the 14-bed CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health service) Unit at the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend.

Steve Tapson, director of BAM Construction Western, said: “Being known as BAM emphasises we are part of a successful European enterprise. In South Wales we have formed some excellent partnerships with our health clients especially – we have a strong order book and a good reputation for quality work delivered considerately.”

The UK group of which BAM Construction Western is part has changed its name from HBG UK to BAM Construct UK, while HBG Properties becomes BAM Properties, its facilities management business is now BAM FM, with other re-named businesses including BAM Design (multi-disciplinary design consultancy) and BAM Plant (plant hire).
