Medical Architecture has developed a carbon reduction plan in accordance with the requirements of the Procurement Policy Note PPN 06-21.
The UK-based healthcare architecture specialist says the plan is part of its commitment to achieving Net Zero carbon by 2050 or earlier. The practice explained: “It is written to closely correlate to its objectives and improvement aspirations within ISO 14001:2015: Environmental Management Systems. The document outlines the architect’s baseline and current carbon emissions, and sets a target to reduce these by 71% over the next five years. It also outlines the initiatives it is taking to achieve this, with details of progress to date.”
Medical Architecture says it ‘recognises the climate emergency’, and has accordingly joined UK Architects Declare (Climate and Biodiversity Emergency) and RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge networks to contribute to, and participate in, the profession’s initiatives and activity to rapidly reduce carbon.
