Sluice rooms freshened up

A new Vernacare anti-bacterial macerator deodoriser combats bacteria while providing a fresh lemon fragrance.

The Vortex has evolved from the “highly effective maceration process” used in the company’s V2020 machine. An added infection prevention feature of the new machine is a hands-free opening mechanism.

After every cycle the Vortex releases 6 ml of deodoriser on lid opening. The deodoriser’s anti-bacterial properties simultaneously work against pathogens in the hopper. The product is supplied in a five litre container – sufficient for more than 800 maceration cycles. An LCD display flashes when the reservoir is low.

The UK engineered Vortex, designed to work with Vernacare’s single-use pulp products, will process four items of pulp in just two minutes.

Vortex has been trialled at seven hospitals in the UK, Europe and Australia over the past eight months, where ward evaluation has been “extremely positive”.
