A new facility in Filton, Bristol which will house what is expected to be the world’s largest blood processing centre, has been fitted with Gradus wall protection systems.
The NHS Blood and Transplant’s centre will provide blood to 90 hospitals, and house the British Bone Marrow Registry, the NHS Cord Blood Bank, and the International Blood Group Reference Laboratory. Gradus has installed comprehensive wall protection, comprising wall guards, high impact corner guards and floor rails, throughout the two connected buildings. The system protects walls from wear and impact scuffs and scrapes caused by wheeled traffic. Gradus 1300 wall guards throughout corridors provide protection from severe impact caused by items such as trolleys. The angular design creates an extended depth, while the PVC-u covers help limit scratches and scrapes that can harbour bacteria. Specified in Arctic (white), the wall guard with aluminum retainer blends into the clinical environment and helps highlight marks or stains. Gradus’s 160 Series High impact corner guards with aluminum retainers are fitted throughout for heavy-duty protection, while heavy-duty rubber E-Fender wall guards figure in storage and hold areas. Meanwhile Gradus stainless steel floor rail, which can be used as a substitute or an addition to wall guards, features at one of the busy entrances.
