Free webinar: How legislative and design changes are impacting standby power solutions

The impact of legislative and design changes and the drive towards Net Zero on the standby power generation market will be the focus of a webinar being hosted by Health Estate Journal on 10 December, presented by Business consultant at WB Power Services, Geoff Halliday.

Starting at 11.00 am, and free to attend, the webinar will also consider – as WB Power Services puts it –  ‘how product standards and installation guidelines are regularly reviewed but don’t necessarily keep up with the speed of change so this webinar’. Geoff Halliday will also cover ‘the effect these changes are having in relation to compliance with HTM 06’, and in particular, ‘how newer and cleaner engines are changing the standby generator landscape set in the context of common specification clarifications’, and the adoption of derogations in generator installations. Topics addressed will include:

  • First set load acceptance.
  • Generator emissions, and how to treat them.
  • Enhancing reliability.
  • Some discrepancies between HTM guidelines and commercially available products, highlighting the differences with BS EN ISO standards that may not consider recent legislative changes, or market-driven product evolution.
  • ‘Resetting the dial’ on site testing of generating sets.
  • ‘How workplace technology continues to evolve and develop at pace, changing the face of conventional building services requirements, nowhere more so than in healthcare’.
  • The move to ‘all electric’ hospitals.

Geoff Halliday started his career as an apprentice working for Square D (later part of Schneider), before moving into the critical power sector, where he has now worked for over 40 years, splitting that time equally between both the UPS and standby diesel generation sectors.

During this period, he has held several roles – ranging from Customer Service engineer, Project manager, Technical director, and Sales director, to managing director.

He said: “The critical power market exposes the individual to a diverse range of market sectors and applications – including healthcare, life sciences, water treatment, banking and finance, military, manufacturing, process control, and data centres of all sizes.”

WB Power services added: “Drawing on his management skills, product knowledge, and the vast application experience amassed throughout, his career Geoff now enjoys sharing his knowledge with others.”
