St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington has equipped its new intensive care suite with a novel “foot-of-bed” pendant solution, developed by Brandon Medical to meet specific requirements for an integrated patient information system.
Brandon worked with the Trust to develop a “foot of the bed” system comprising 16 tailor-made clinical information system pendants, consisting of a lightweight twin arm system. Attached to one is a 20 in medically approved flat screen tablet computer for monitoring clinical information. On the second is a Brandon Astralite minor surgical light. A further 16 Atlas medical supply pendants at the head of each ITU bed maximise the number of patient services immediately accessible around the bed, while minimising the area occupied. The system has been installed without compromising the pendants’ loading capacity, both in weight terms, and the number of services available. The multifunction rack mounted on the pendant’s front obviates the need for long, bulky service heads and allows items to be added, moved or removed later.
