Doorset dilemmas answered

As you may have seen at Healthcare Ireland, Komfort has recently supplied their CX partitioning system for Theatre Number 6 at Royal Brompton Hospital, London.

The operating theatre suite was built from innovative modular construction technology with a specialist Komfort contractor managing the design and build aspects of the project.  The building was positioned within the centre of a light well and suspended on a bespoke steel platform with integral access/egress to the existing level 3 corridors.

A co-ordinated and strategic plan was put in place to manoeuvre the modular buildings from North East England into London.  Road closures and traffic management were employed to carry out the one day installation.  A 500 tonne crane was used to lift the modules over the existing hospital onto the platform.

The theatre itself was constructed using Komfort’s CX partitioning system with steel faced panels.  The flush feature of the system accommodated all the services including medical gases, electrics and surgeon’s panel.  This presented the client with a limited maintenance and decoration free finish.  Laminated hardwood doors were also installed sustaining a clinical environment.

Upon positioning of the units, the operating theatre was commissioned and validated ready to use in a 10 week period.
