Catering for varied tastes via broader meal range

Sodexo Healthcare has won a five-year contract from Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to improve catering services at the Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals in Ascot and Slough in Berkshire.

Sodexo is employing approximately 120 people to provide patients with a broader range of meal options from Bonne Santé, its new, plated threecourse “a la carte” menu. Patients will benefit from the new system’s flexibility, which allows them to order food from a dedicated Sodexo hostess between 7:30 am and 7.00 pm, seven days a week, and up to two hours in advance of meal times, instead of 24 hours as previously. This will not only ensure they receive the meals they want, at a convenient time, but also that nurses will no longer have to prepare meals outside core times, serve beverages, or clear away afterwards. Food will be prepared on the ward so it is at optimum temperature when served to patients, who can now choose from a greater number of hot and cold starters, main courses and desserts. Sodexo has also refurbished dining areas at both hospitals, offeing patients, staff and visitors more choice via its YOO retail catering brand.
