The behemoth tradeshow, Healthcare Estates 2025, held at Manchester Central show venue, officially opened today.
The UK’s largest healthcare estates event brings together thousands of professionals from across the sector. This three-day event will feature keynote sessions, expert presentations, debates, roundtables, and a major exhibition showcasing more than 230 leading companies and industry associations.
This year’s overarching theme, ‘Prevention is better than cure’, reflects the growing emphasis on proactive planning and long-term investment in healthcare infrastructure.
With significant NHS funding expected over the next decade, the event provides a unique forum for estates teams, engineers, commissioners, and healthcare leaders to explore how to design, build, and manage facilities that meet patient and staff needs – while reducing risk and operational costs.
IHEEM CEO Pete Sellars highlighted the importance of this year’s focus, saying: “Prevention is better than cure is more than just this year’s theme – it is a call to action for our entire profession. By planning ahead, designing intelligently, and embedding resilience and sustainability, we can avoid problems before they arise and deliver long-term value for patients, staff, and communities.”
With a packed programme covering every aspect of healthcare estates, from funding and design to operation and maintenance, attendees have the chance to learn from past successes and challenges, discover the latest technological solutions, and connect with peers from across the industry.
Make sure to visit the HEJ stand H24 and pick up your copy of the latest issue of the magazine. Commenting on the show, business manager Sheehan Edmonds said: "Personally speaking, today has been a huge success for the HEJ team and from what I can see, the industry too. It was lovely to see so many of you in person and I look forward to catching up with many of you tomorrow too. Do feel free to come by H24 and meet one of the team."
Tonight, the winners of the IHEEM Healthcare Estates Awards will be announced at a gala dinner. The awards recognise outstanding organisations, teams and individuals in the fields of healthcare engineering and estates and facilities management.
