Pegler Yorkshire has launched a range of TMV3 in-line thermostatic mixing valves designed to eliminate the risk of scalding in hospitals and care homes.
Introduced alongside a range of TMV2 mixing valves for domestic applications, the Prestex-branded TMV3 products are approved by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) and independently tested and approved under the WRc-NSF BuildCert TMV3 scheme for applications including sinks, washbasins, baths, bidets, single point showers, and hairwash sprays. Key features include:
• Simple installation and servicing.
• TMV3 models comply fully with the NHS Model Engeineering Specification D08. r Choice of standard, “easy to service” union connections or 90° angle valve combination.
• 15 and 22 mm sizes.
• Factory pre-set thermostatic controller, but easy to adjust the mixer temperature to suit different applications. Screw-fixed, tamper-proof cap prevents unauthorised adjustment.
• Check valves in each inlet prevent cross-flow between hot /cold water.
• Internal strainers help prevent system debris from entering the valve mechanism.
• Unique Data Matrix codes laser-etched onto body for complete traceability.
• Inlets and outlets protected by plastic caps to prevent contamination of element and valve lubricant.
• Easy-to-clean chrome finish.
• Security-sealed cartons.
Phill Jackson, Pegler Yorkshire marketing director, said: “Every year hundreds of people in the UK suffer serious burn injuries from excessively hot water. One significant cause is sudden changes in water temperature or pressure, especially in large communal systems, which can see water running, say, from a patient’s shower, suddenly get excessively hot. TMV3 mixing valves keep water at a stable, constant mixed temperature, automatically catering for sudden temperature or pressure changes. Should cold water supply to a particular outlet fail the valve shuts off instantaneously.” In the last year Pegler has invested around £250,000 in a new production cell within its Doncaster factory for assembly and testing of the new TMV products. The cell incorporates a Giussani test rig, which tests every finished item for leakage and parameters such as flow rate, and a Telesis laser etching device.
