Low carbon health centre

Medical lighting specialist Brandon Medical has joined forces with construction company Willmott Dixon to help create a sustainable, low carbon healthcare centre within the BRE Innovation Park in Watford.

The healthcare campus reportedly features some of the world’s most sustainable buildings. The three-storey healthcare centre features three “low carbon” medical rooms incorporate insulated floors and ceilings, recyclable walls, ultra-efficient light sources, and renewable energyfuelled ventilation. Willmott Dixon chose Brandon Medical’s LED lighting range for the examination and minor surgical rooms. The medical lights use “highly efficient” HD-LED technology, which, when applied to surgical lighting, gives an estimated annual reduction in CO2 per operating theatre of “at least 1.25 tonnes”. The HD-LED lights also offer excellent colour rendition.
