Precise surgical lighting

TRUMPF’s new TruLight 5000 surgical lighting system is said to “combine all the advantages of innovative LED technology with the most efficient energy management”, while providing consistent light distribution, eliminating the need for refocusing during surgery.

The TruLight 5000 also introduces adaptive light control that allows the homogeneous light cylinder to be adjusted for various working distances via the targeted electronic control of different LEDs. Surgeons can therefore pre-operatively adjust the light according to their particular requirements. Light temperature and intensity can be controlled in six steps between 30% and 100%, with an additional endoscopy step allowing reduction of light down to 5%. Two models are available: the TruLight 5500 and TruLight 5300 provide illumination of 150,000 and 120,000 lux from just 90 and 60 LEDs respectively, with power consumption of just 65 and 60 W. TRUMPF claims to have been the first company to integrate LEDs into medical lighting.
