Architectural aluminium systems supplier Kawneer says it has “a genuine first” in commercial window systems with its new AA3610LS vertical sliding window. A linked sash mechanism enables the window to open at the bottom and the top simultaneously in one operation.
Consequently the sash is not reliant on the occupant opening multiple vents to provide single-sided ventilation – which enables stale air to be drawn out of the top of the window and cool, fresh air to be drawn in via the bottom. The linked sash has been successfully cycle-tested in a process said to represent more than 75 years’ use. “Excellent thermal properties” are achieved via a polyamide break designed to provide “ultimate thermal performance and smooth operation”. In addition, the AA3610LS linked sash offers excellent weather performance – air permeability (Class 3), watertightness (Class 9A 600Pa) and resistance to windload (Class B5).
