ECUK improves website

Why engineers should become registered and how they can go about it are fully explained on the newly revamped and expanded website (www.engc.org.uk) of the Engineering Council UK (ECUK), the body responsible for regulating the UK’s engineering profession. An important addition to the site is a special section on Engineering Technicians, whose skills are currently much in demand. It also now incorporates UK-SPEC, the regulations that are used to assess registration applications.

Of particular interest to the aspiring engineer is a searchable database of over 4,000 accredited courses/qualifications. These meet the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Engineering Technician (EngTech), as laid down by ECUK and the engineering institutions through which it operates. The new site’s extensive international section reflects the fact that part of the role of ECUK is to extend overseas recognition of UK engineers. It details the progress being made through mutual agreements with other countries and lobbying of governmental organisations. The site also contains full contact details for the 36 engineering institutions that are licensed to put suitably qualified members on the ECUK Register of Engineers.
