A new single UK technical guidance website for healthcare facilities, Space for Health, launched at Healthcare Estates, is now available at http://www.spaceforhealth.nhs.uk
The website was launched at the conference by the Department of Health
and the three UK health organisations - Health Estates Agency Northern
Ireland, Health Facilities Scotland, and Welsh Health Estates, and
successfully showcased on the Central Office of Information's stand.
'Space for Health' brings together a whole suite of guidance
(including Health Technical Memoranda, Health Building Notes, and other
information) into one online resource for all those involved in the
procurement, management, design and planning of healthcare facilities.
Users will be able to seamlessly shift between different pieces of
guidance, and will be able to access nation-specific information,
depending on whether their project is in England, Scotland, Wales or
Northern Ireland.
It has been developed following an extensive three-year consultation
period, including stakeholder events and evaluation of a pilot website.
Further feedback will be gathered until April 2010 when the full system
will be launched.
Health Minister, Mike O'Brien said:
"For those working to ensure that healthcare facilities are of the
highest quality for patients and staff, this website will prove an
invaluable tool bringing together all the guidance in one easy to access
website.
"'Space for Health' goes one step further in providing anyone in
the UK with region-specific information on procurement, management, design
and planning of healthcare facilities."
