With increasing pressure on healthcare organisations to reduce energy use and carbon footprint, effective energy management is critical. Trend, the UK market leader in building energy management systems (BEMS), has systems installed in many NHS and private healthcare premises.
At the 2009 Healthcare Estates event, Trend demonstrated its range of energy-saving services, including IQ Eye – an intelligent support system, and iMAT2 - an energy monitoring service, plus Trend EnergyEYE - an on-site software application that provides a dynamic view of a building’s energy performance. Information is delivered to a large format monitor located in a high traffic area, allowing building occupants and visitors to see for themselves an organisation’s commitment to managing energy and performance against targets.
Trend also offered information and advice on the Carbon Reduction Commitment, advising that any organisation seeking to reduce its carbon emissions should first take a closer look at its building energy management system. The company said: “Owners and tenants of non-domestic buildings are under mounting pressure to cut their energy usage and carbon emissions… The logical answer is to focus on those areas, where large energy savings can be made quickly and easily. This often means looking no further than their building energy management system, which typically controls 60-80% of a building’s energy usage.”
