Recently launched at the Healthcare Estates Exhibition & Conference, the latest containment solution from The Wandsworth Group proved a success with visitors to the stand. Customer feedback enabled some critical design and functionality changes, including limiting the visible fixings to improve infection control, providing a pre-piped, pre-wired option to reduce installation times, and offering a more standardised range of components to speed up delivery.
One of the UK’s leading nurse call system manufacturers, The Wandsworth Group has been at the forefront of healthcare communications technology for over 50 years. This insight and experience has not only helped secure strong partnerships between Wandsworth and NHS estates, but also helps the company develop functional, high quality healthcare technology such as Nursecall, IPiN – a fully IP-based nurse call system, and Tele-Call, a patented bedside computing and patient entertainment system.
The company is also moving forward and delivering for the “quality patient environment” in the form of intelligent, Bluetooth “vital signs” monitoring equipment. Tele-Call touch screen terminals can readily and inexpensively be Bluetooth-enabled and used to monitor patients’ vital signs continuously on general wards, without the restrictions and discomfort of patients being hardwired to expensive monitoring devices. Bluetooth’s great advantage here, the company explains, is that, with each device paired with the patient’s bedside Tele-Call terminal, their vital signs are monitored only by their own PC, and not by others in the same ward. This feature also allows use for positive patient identification, as the patient-worn Bluetooth monitor worn is individually coded, thus eliminating the need for manual ID tags.
