Home automation and electrical accessories company Jung has launched a range of light switches that utilise silver ions’ antimicrobial properties embedded within thermosetting plastic to inhibit reproduction of bacteria and fungi.
The hard-wearing material used for Jung’s AS 500 Antibacterial range reportedly ensures the switches offer protection from a wide variety of pathogenic germs for many years without the use of any chemical coatings. Atmospheric moisture triggers a release mechanism within the plastic’s structure, sending silver ions to the surface of the switch on a continuous basis to ensure that it is always effective. The AS 500 Antibacterial range provides all the options available from Jung’s standard AS 500 range of switches and sockets, using the company’s distinctive square styling. The only visible difference is a small blue “plus” sign on the frame.
