Temporary kitchen maintains safety for nursing home

When 72-bed family owned Bird's Hill nursing home in Bournemouth undertook the refurbishment of its kitchen, it turned to temporary kitchen provider CKS for a solution that ensured the continuity of stringent food safety standards.

Nursing home director Shan Seewooruthun said: "The kitchen was everything our chef needed. From the cold rooms to the cooking range it was high-end specification equipment. Even the flooring was the same as we had in our own kitchen. CKS delivered everything and fitted it while the building team on site connected services. It was a completely seamless handover from existing kitchen to temporary kitchen." CKS looked at the menu cycle of Bird's Hill Nursing Home and fitted the temporary kitchen with the equipment the chefs would need to deliver the same menu, three meals a day, seven days a week, plus snacks and beverages which residents were used to. "This consultation process is extremely important in delivering exactly what each location needs," according to James Godley from CKS. "We don't have such a thing as a standard kitchen package. Every temporary kitchen needs bespoke equipment, but with our large bank of equipment to call on - all of it was chosen for high performance - we can equip a temporary kitchen to exactly meet what the chef, the menu and the customers need."
