Power disruption protection

Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is utilising Chloride’s 80-NET UPS system to protect cardiac catheter equipment from power disruptions and impurities in the power supply at the Birmingham City Hospital and Sandwell General Hospital.

Managing director at consultant building design specialist Stewart Associates Steve Mason explained that, following a review of the hospitals’ requirements, the company recommended Chloride’s UPS systems as “the de facto solution”. Chloride and Stewart Associates deployed a 120kVA 80-NET UPS system – which will provide 30 minutes of support at full load in case of power failure. Steve Mason explained: “It is designed so the team would not necessarily know there has been a minor power disruption.” All the UPS systems, including the new 80-NET unit, have been connected to Chloride’s LIFE.net monitoring service, to ensure maintenance issues are detected as quickly as possible.
