Buoyed by the excellent reception among UK hospitals to its TruLight LED surgical light, launched last year, Trumpf Medical Systems has incorporated enhancements to the ultra-slim, lightweight product.
The new TruLight 5520 incorporates “adaptive light control plus”, which automatically adapts illumination as requirements change during surgery; surgeons need only set ideal light intensity at the operation’s start. Trumpf says this is thanks to the consistent light quality provided by the basic design: “The optimal combination of LED arrangement and orientation creates a homogenous light cylinder that is highly efficient at different depths of field. Innovative thermal management means effective heat dissipation, resulting in a noticeable increase in the LED durability and efficiency”. Even if moved during an operation, TruLight maintains its pre-set intensity.
