Former Health Minister and respected surgeon Lord Ara Darzi met with Brandon Medical at Dubai’s recent Arab Health 2010 conference and exhibition.
Lord Darzi, now UK Business Ambassador, discussed during a meeting with the Leeds-based medical technology manufacturer its HD-LED medical lighting system, which the company claims has “changed the future of medical lighting technology”, winning numerous recent awards (HEJ – January 2010). Speaking about UK innovation, Lord Darzi said: “The UK medical technology sector consists of 2,771 companies generating £10.6 billion of turnover, and includes a large portion of the world’s most innovative medical technology SMEs, multinationals, and leading R&D centres. It is at the forefront of healthcare innovation, and it gives me great pleasure to be able to promote such innovative technologies and solutions at Arab Health 2010.” Brandon director Adrian Hall, pictured with Lord Darzi, said: “It was a great honour to have Lord Darzi visit us. His expertise and knowledge within the field of surgery is admirable, and it was a pleasure to receive such positive feedback on our surgical lighting and imaging equipment.”
