Hand sanitisation units offered free

NHS Trusts should find it easier to fight infections with the NHS Supply Chain’s offer of free, battery-operated, SaniPost hand sanitiser stations to hospitals across England and Wales.

The automatic hand cleaning units dispense sanitiser via a sensor-operated device when hands are placed inside, meaning no surface needs to be touched. Each six feet tall unit stands out to encourage hand hygiene, can be filled with any user-selected product, and requires no water or electricity. Trusts can order direct from SaniPost, quoting NHS Supply Chain ref. SAN1267, and maintenance is provided free. Hand sanitising product must, however, be purchased separately. Each unit will reportedly last for approximately 75,000 cycles. SaniPost says that for every 250 uses, Trusts can save up to £5 in paper towel costs; up to 4,000 watts from hand dryers, and up to 550 pints of water.
