Contour Showers has undertaken “major investment in new production processes” to develop its “eco-friendly” Eco-dec recyclable wet floor formers – claimed to have a carbon footprint “70% lower than any similar plastic product on the market”.
The company says: “Eco-dec is a truly sustainable product. Not only is it made from over 90% recycled plastic materials, but it can be 100% recycled and remade into another Eco-dec.” Eco-dec floor formers are designed to easily allow bathrooms to be used as complete, level acces wet rooms. Each has a pre-formed top surface that eliminates the need to screed falls in the floor to the waste. The product recently underwent rigorous independent evaluation by Smithers RAPRA, the UK independent polymer research and test facility, including a fatigue test where no detrimental effect was shown after a seat loaded with 30 stones was raised and dropped 22,180 times.
