VINCI Park is to invest £9 million in designing, building, and managing, a new car park for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
One interesting feature of the 1,000 space multi-storey car park, at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester, will be a series of timber louvre panels (pictured) designed to prevent car headlights from being seen in nearby properties, while also providing natural ventilation, light, and surveillance. Also planned, subject to planning permission, is a further 400-space multistorey car park at Cheltenham General Hospital. VINCI Park took over management of the existing car parks at both hospitals on 4 January under a PFI arrangement. Following development of both car parks, the company will manage the sites for the next 30 years. Construction of the Gloucestershire Royal car park will begin this month. Alongside the louvre system, good lighting, use of colour, and clear signage, will be integrated, to create an easy-touse, secure, safe environment. Also installed will be pay-on-foot machines, a new staff smart card system, and a number plate recognition system to enable staff to pay as they go.
