In 2005, IHEEM welcomed over 160 new members, topping the recruitment success of the year before, writes Tammy Simmons, the Institute’s recruitment manager.
In 2006 there will be important opportunites for IHEEM members to work together, move ahead and achieve even more – and not just in recruitment activity. All members are encouraged to become involved – it does not matter if they have had IHEEM membership for 30 years or 30 days.
“I was recently invited by the North West Branch to give a presentation on CPD,” states Tammy Simmons. “It was well received, and I had some very positive feedback. I was even presented with my very own CPD Certificate.
“CPD, as you all know, is vital to all professionals – not just to engineers, builders and so on, but also to lawyers, accountants, managers and many others. Any professional who does not keep up to date with his or her CPD is considered out of date within five years.
“I will be writing to all branch chairmen and secretaries, asking if I can give the same presentation at a future meeting. If you would like to attend a presentation, or would like to know where the presentations are taking place, please contact either your branch chairman or secretary (see IHEEM website for contact details) or call me for information.
“It is not only CPD that I have been working on, but also interview panel training, mentoring, and registration workshops. If you would like to become a professional review interviewer for Chartered Engineers and/or Incorporated Engineers, please let me know. I will be holding a training day in March in London. If the interest is high, I will consider other regions.
“More news on mentoring and registration workshops will be issued soon.”
